Williams River Steel was successfully awarded this project after submitting a tender for the construction of the MGI Piling facility. The building was fully documented and DA approved just requiring construction certificate and workshop fabrication drawings to be completed.
The design was refined during the workshop drawings process utilising the design methodologies routinely adopted by Williams River Steel to speed up and improve the construction process.
The 'residential cottage' type construction documented for the office area was adapted to use more typical commercial/industrial construction techniques with steel framed walls, floors and parapets while maintaining the facade and aesthetics approved by council. The building is clad with precast panels and FC sheeting with colorbond roof. Wash bay, workshop and office are all included within the project, along with a detention tank, full office fit out, retaining walls, car park, pavement and hardstand area at the rear.
Standing on a sandstone rock shelf, the site required rock breaking excavation.
