The changing face of Pennant Hills.

See how a site can move with the times of the automotive industry with various rebrands, upgrades and occupants over time each calling this space their own.

Australian Motor Group purchased this very large and prominent site formally known as Barry Smith Holden at Pennant Hills back in 2016, this then saw the first of many projects commence on the site at Pennant Hills.

This very large site initially only contained the very well known and respected Holden / HSV showroom of Barry Smith along with the Hyundai new vehicle showrooms & used vehicles yard.

With the introduction of the “Modern Premium” concept from Hyundai Motor Company in 2016 Williams River Steel was tasked with the design& construction of the very first Hyundai showroom in Australia showcasing the “Modern Premium” design, replacing outdated open awning structures with a state-of-the-art showroom.

In late 2016 Nissan introduced the “Nissan Retail Environment Design Initiative” or NREDI concept, upon Hyundai making themselves at home in the new showroom Williams River Steel was again tasked with design and

constructing the very first Nissan NREDI showroom in Australia, converting the previous outdated Hyundai showroom into a first of its kind NREDI showroom.

With the demise of Holden, the Holden / HSV showroom was divided in thirds making way for the introduction of Suzuki to the site, the southern end of the showroom was extended and converted into a Suzuki showroom to the Suzuki Standards Manual.

As Holden’s market share diminished further in 2019 the Holden showroom was divided into half again making way for the emerging Kia franchise, Suzuki was relocated into the central showroom space and Kia took up the southern end of the showroom, with another extension to the building the Kia showroom was developed to the Global Space Identity Guidelines featuring the striking “Full Red Cube” concept.

In 2022 WRS were given instructions to build a purpose-built freestanding Suzuki showroom on the site allowing expansion for the Kia franchise growing in popularity along with the introduction of MG to the site.

Following the relocation of Suzuki, MG established a presence onsite in the northern end of the showroom while major renovation works commenced on the southern end for the new state of the art Kia showroom to the SI 2.0 Guidelines with its “Opposites Unite” philosophy.

With Kia settling into their new showroom space it was MG turn, with the WRS team now turning their attention to the construction of the new MG showroom to the brand new FEDSM manual.

With the redevelopment of the Kia and MG showrooms a new modern service reception and customer lounge area was developed to compliment the drive thru service arrangements.

With the downturn of Nissan in the 2024 financial year and the growth of Ford sales particularly in the light commercial vehicles with the introduction of the NexGen Ranger the decision was made to relocate Nissan out of their large premium showroom space to make way for the refurbishment into a new Ford showroom with construction due to be complete late 2025.

With all the showroom upgrades and new showroom builds one has to be aware that the “Back of House” facilities also must be upgraded foreach brand, Inclusive of signage, parking, access areas, service entries and full customer lounge and café areas.

These back of house facilities have been developed in parallel with the showrooms over the years to now feature over 120 service, vehicle washing and detailing bays on the site and onsite vehicle storage for over 400 vehicles.
