Rigs Brookvale makes a splash.

From humble beginnings to state‑of‑the‑art Aquatic and Wellness centre. Unique complexity and innovative design combine to deliver an incredible facility.

A humble storage shed at Westfield Shopping Centre in Brookvale has re-emerged as a state of the art Aquatic and Wellness  Centre boasting a number of inclusions rarely seen in one complex within Australia.

It was a 7 month build journey from the demolition, structural rebuild, the pools precast panel locations and the final fit-out to complete this incredible project. The project included a 25m swimming pool utilising Olympic style Myrtha pool system, 11m hydrotherapy pool with inclusive  access, walk-in ice baths, steam room and state-of-the-art Poolpac Airchange mechanical system.

Specialised consultation rooms and offices accommodating osteotherapy, physiotherapy and cryotherapy; boasting cryotherapy chamber, float tank, airpod and compression cinema room among many other unrivaled inclusions.

A warm and welcoming reception area, modern cafe and fully compliant adult change rooms combine with the latest technology and fully inclusive facilities to make this one the most revolutionary and sophisticated centres of it’s kind.

As you can see by the before and after photos, there was a substantial amount of on site measuring and custom design building that had to happen to incorporate the footprint of the existing structure and the new proposed building. We had to address existing power, fire services and general existing facilities and then design the upgrades required for the new proposed project.

Existing slabs and footings had to be fully re-engineered to take into account the substantially greater loads that would be incorporated with the two specialised pools and additional building height and facilities within.

As the project was part of the Westfield Shopping Centre Complex all upgrades and requirements had to go through their specific design teams and project planning incorporating the most viable options to bring the increased service requirements to the site. This alone had challengers. bThis was the first project that Williams River Steel had utilised their panel systems as swimming pool components, and they came up exceptional as can be seen.

As mentioned prior it was a 7 month building project but the finished product certainly was a credit to all Williams River Steel building trades and persons involved.

By all means if you are at Westfield Shopping Complex call by the rear of the complex to inspect the Rigs – Aqua Culture Centre.
